FREEDOM
Moments of life captured in photos
Why am I in this body? What makes my body different? Why am I not him, and is
he not me? Why is her body covered and soaked in blood? Why has her body
become a battleground in search of life and freedom?
A tornado of unanswered questions transforms into images—images of those
dreaming of liberty taking to the streets for “women, life, freedom.” An outcry for
liberty blossoms in every corner of cities and villages. The silenced voices with
battered bodies are reborn as freedom fighters.
A new image is developed. The image of hundreds of thousands raising their
voices across the world—a transnational movement crossing the borders of
villages, cities, and countries. This is the image of the women of my country!
At night, I listen to and capture their life story. During the day, I embrace their
lifeless, bloody bodies. I become their companion traveling from one mountain to
another in search of a piece of land to bury them so they can rest in peace and
freedom.
Their bodies are lost, but their soul remains—free at last to travel to every corner
of the world as symbols of liberty. They knock on closed doors passing on the
torch of freedom. When they come to your door, welcome them, learn their
story, and receive their message.
Remove your compulsory veil. Let every Jina see your free body as they are the
messengers of freedom!
